Cookie Monster Cupcakes

COOKIE MONSTER CUPCAKES! YUM! YUM!

These cupcakes were a hit with my sons! Who can resist a cute monster cupcake?

Lamp Before & After

This lamp was originally Gold. I spray painted it Black and used it for a few years. It was time for a fresh color. I chose warm brown with hints of Black and Gold.
This is how it turned out. I love the chabby chic look.
Here is a close up! I loved how the Gold and Black came through the brown after lightly sanding the edges. I layered Brown spray paint, Gold spray paint and some more Brown acrylic paint. Then I sanded the edges to bring out the colors below.
This lamp really adds to the warmth of the room.

Cookie Monster Sugar Cookies

These Cookies were a REAL TREAT to eat! Two cookies in one. My friend had a cookie monster party at her house and invited the guests to bring cookies to share. These are the cookies I decided to make.
I used a mix for the sugar cookies to save time. Then I had fun frosting the little blue monsters!!!
Sesame Street here we come!
YUM! YUM!

Ivory Night Stand Before & After

This Ivory and Gold nightstand was found by my Mother-in-law, who knew I could use it and give it some TLC. And that is what I did. I am sure it looked good in the original owner's home, but it did not fit my bedroom colors and it needed a little work. Here are the before and after pictures.
It needed a coat of heavy duty PRIMER! I love to spray primer on. No brush lines and I can complete the project in half the time. Thank heavens for primer.
After I primed the nightstand I lightly sanded some bumps left by the primer and then sprayed 2 coats of Heirloom White spray paint. When that dried I sprayed a clear coat of gloss all over the nightstand. I used the original knobs that came with the nightstand. What a transformation!

Large Curvy Dresser Before & After

What a find! My Mother-in-law found this beauty for me. I couldn't have asked for better bones in furniture. I knew right away that I could rescue the dresser and transform it into something I would love! Here are the before and after shots.
I kept the old knobs. I wasn't planning on it, but after a coat of Heirloom white spray paint I couldn't resist. The knobs really added the right touch to the dresser.
Here is the dresser primed with a heavy duty primer.
Here is the dresser after I was all done. I loved the results.

Bed skirt to layered Skirt

The 3 R's (REDUCE, REUSE, & RECYCLE) were my allies on this project! I had a linen bed skirt that my sister gave to me. I got this crazy idea that it would look cute as a skirt with layers. I am not sure where that idea came from....but after hours of cutting and sewing it worked. :)

I thought I would make my daughter one as well....I had plenty of leftover bed skirt material and you know me, I can't waste good material!
Step 1: Cut apart existing bed skirt dust ruffle. After this part there is no turning back!
Step 2: Line up all the ruffles and measure to the right length.
Step 3: Cut liner out of another skirt and sew into new skirt. Thank you mom for your skirt liner! I love it. :)
Step 4: Make curly flowers to accessorize the skirt and add a little touch of feminineness to the Tan and Cream look. I loved the flowers so much I made some to go in my daughters hair and some for embellishing a blouse of mine. They are so addicting to make!

Wall-E Birthday Cake

Step one: Roll white marshmallow fondant on pre-frosted cake. Light crumb coat will do.

Step 2: Layer pieces of colored shaped fondant on cake. Adhere with a small dab of water. And I mean small. A little goes a long way.

My First attempt at Marshmallow Fondant! This was homemade and delicious. Lots of work and time involved but worth it! Thank you sister for your advise and thank you U-tube for all the step by step instructions on making marshmallow fondant.

Zipper Flower Clips

Zippers....Zippers....and more zippers! I found a useful way to reuse these wonderful zippers. I removed them from various slacks and shorts. I loved the way they added an interesting detail to the flower hair clips.

Pink Tiered Birthday Cake

Here is my second attempt at homemade marshmallow Fondant! So yummy and fun to work with. My hands were sore from creating it! Happy Birthday daugher!
